FAQ's

General Info

General Info

Q. How do I get an estimate, and is it free?

Yes, all estimates are free. Give us a call or an Email. If possible, we will give you a “ball park” idea of costs for smaller jobs. Then we come out to look at your site and prepare an actual bid.

Q. Can you work from my designs?

Yes, give us a sketch or an address of an existing work that you like and we can begin from there. We are also happy to provide design ideas or work w/your architect. In fact it is always a good thing to involve us early in the design process. We will have more experience working with steel than an architect and can help to insure a proper, cost effective design.

Q. I like your bid, what happens next?

In most cases we prepare a CADD drawing of the job for approval and ask for a down payment before ordering steel.

Q. How long does it take before my job is installed?

That depends on our work load and your job size. Typically winter is our slowest season, summer our busiest. You will be given an installation estimate with your bid. Most of our jobs fall in the three to six week range between down payment and installation.

Q. What is my job made out of and how is it painted?

All ornamental iron is made from mild steel. The term “wrought iron” referred to a type of low carbon steel that is no longer produced. We send all of our projects out to be sandblasted and powder coated. After the electrostatic powder is applied, the steel is oven baked for a hard, durable finish. We can also have certain types of projects galvanized.

Q. How do I care for my ironwork?

We provide matching liquid touch up paint. This can be applied to any “dings and scratches” that your ironwork may have over the years.

Q. Will my ironwork rust?

All steel rusts over time. We provide a professionally applied, two coat oven baked powder. We warranty all of our work for a year. Dark colors last much longer than light, black is the preferred color for ironwork.
